[Avon Walk for Breast Cancer] Absense Makes the Heart Grow Stronger

I can't believe 2 months have already gone by since I last posted. I'm still training each day. The weather has been sporadic in Colorado so I've spent more time riding my stationary bike than anything else. I'm probably riding it about 12-15 miles a week and walking 10 miles a week. Now that the weather is warming up, I've got to start walking more. I just returned from a 6-mile walk. It was awesome!

For those of you who want to train along with me, here's my workout schedule for the next several weekends:
Sun, 4/22: 6 mile walk
4/28 and 4/29: 10 miles and 6 miles
5/5 and 5/6: 12 miles and 6 miles
5/12 and 5/13: 13 miles and 7 miles
5/19 and 5/20: 15 miles and 7 miles
5/26 and 5/27: 17 miles and 8 miles
6/2 and 6/3: 20 miles and 9 miles
6/9 and 6/10: 22 miles and 10 miles
6/16 and 6/17: 8 miles and 4 miles
6/29 and 6/30: Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - 26 miles and 13 miles

During the week, I'm following this schedule:
Mon: 15 walk or 3 - 5 miles on the stationary bike
Tue: 3-4 mile walk
Wed: 20-min cross train (I'm doing an exercise video or riding a bike)
Thu: 3-4 mile walk
Fri: 20-min cross train (video or bike again)

So, I have to say that I thought with all this exercising I would be ready to fit into my skinny jeans - not quite yet. In fact, I've gained four pounds, but I'm not discouraged at all. Muscle weighs more than fat, and I can definitely tell that I've gained more muscle mass. My clothes are starting to fit differently - better for sure. So, if you are like me and aren't seeing much movement on the scale, don't beat yourself up. Your body is responding in it's on way. Just keep moving forward and know that you are doing great things for your body and mind!

With inspiration and imagination,
Julie
